Meet the Founder

Steven McCann is the Founder and Director of MCG Consulting, a pioneering consultancy reshaping how organisations approach mental health, addiction awareness, and workplace inclusion. With over 18 years of experience in the legal sector across the UK and US, Steven is now a leading voice in recovery-informed culture, mentoring, and wellbeing at work.
Steven’s work is grounded in lived experience. After building a successful legal career while privately battling addiction, he now helps organisations become places where people do not just survive but thrive. His flagship MCG Addiction Awareness Series is helping firms open up honest conversations, dismantle stigma, and create safer, high-performing cultures rooted in empathy and accountability.
He has delivered talks and training for leading law firms, financial institutions, and professional bodies across the UK and Ireland. His work has been published by the Legal Services Board, featured in The Law Gazette, and recognised by LawCare, national Law Societies, wellbeing festivals, industry podcasts, and national radio. He regularly speaks in prisons and at legal conferences, bringing rare depth, credibility, and human insight to every room.
Steven sits on the Steering Committee for This Is Me, the Lord Mayor’s Appeal initiative tackling workplace mental health stigma, alongside senior leaders from PwC, KPMG, Aon, UBS, BlackRock, and the Bank of England. He is also Deputy Chair of ReachOut, a national mentoring charity supporting young people aged 11–14 from underrepresented communities.
A trusted facilitator and speaker, Steven has chaired senior panels, led senior leader corporate conversations, and hosted high-profile events including a Q&A with Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle. Whether working with executives or early-career professionals, his approach is consistently described as honest, human, and transformative.
Steven’s mission is simple: to help every organisation become a place where people feel seen, supported, and able to succeed – and where courageous, compassionate leadership is the norm.
