“This is an important issue that affects people at every level of the workforce. We are proud to be part of what is now a growing conversation around addiction and recovery in the workplace, and to support the role of inclusive and preventative approaches…organisations have a clear imperative to engage with this topic meaningfully and responsibly.”

Welcome to MCG Consulting

Substance use, silence, and the workplaces brave enough to talk about both.

MCG Consulting is a specialist consultancy working at the intersection of substance use, workplace culture and recovery in professional services.

We work with law firms, financial institutions, regulators and professional bodies to help their people talk about pressure, coping and substance use before difficulties reach crisis point. That means moving beyond the one-off awareness session towards genuine, lasting culture change: through Corporate Mutual Aid Recovery (CMAR), our year-round confidential support programme; through structured talks and multi-session series, including the three-part Substance Use Awareness Series we designed and delivered for A&O Shearman; and through confidential one-to-one support for senior professionals navigating pressure, coping and recovery behind the scenes.

Our approach combines lived experience, professional expertise and organisational insight, shaped by an advisory board spanning law, mental health research, finance and social impact. We do not deliver generic wellbeing content. We help organisations address a sensitive and often overlooked area of workplace culture with the credibility, rigour and practical understanding that professional and regulated organisations need.

Partner with us to create inclusive, recovery-informed workplaces where everyone can thrive.

Substance use rarely exists in isolation. In high-pressure environments, it can intersect with performance, relationships, absence, conduct, retention and leadership. The earlier an organisation can create a safe route into conversation and support, the more opportunity there is to respond constructively before difficulties become more serious.

In 2026, that relationship moved from awareness into practical guidance. Working alongside the Society, we developed the Safe Conversations Toolkit, giving solicitors and managers practical guidance for recognising when a colleague may be struggling and approaching that conversation with confidence. The Toolkit launches at the Society's Annual Conference in Edinburgh this October.

For every £1 invested in mental health interventions, employers can expect a return of up to £5
