Steven McCann is the Founder and Managing Director of MCG Consulting, a specialist consultancy helping law firms, financial institutions and other high-performance organisations understand how pressure influences behaviour, workplace culture and sustainable performance.
Drawing on nearly two decades in the legal sector, together with professional expertise and lived experience, Steven works with leadership teams to strengthen psychological safety, facilitate and support difficult workplace conversations, and help organisations respond earlier when their people may need support.
Under Steven’s leadership, MCG has become a trusted partner to leading international law firms, financial institutions, regulators and professional bodies across the UK and Ireland. Its work includes strategic consultancy, leadership development, keynote speaking and multi-session workplace programmes, including the design and delivery of A&O Shearman’s three-part Substance Use Awareness Series. MCG is also an approved supplier to the Law Society of Scotland.
Steven leads MCG’s work in social mobility, mentoring and progression. For the past two years, MCG has co-led the Firm-to-Firm Mentoring Programme, bringing together 25 national and international financial services organisations to strengthen collaboration and improve progression for employees from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
Alongside his work with MCG, Steven serves as a Magistrate and Justice of the Peace and sits on the Lord Mayor’s Appeal Steering Committee for This is Me. He previously spent six years in trustee leadership at national youth mentoring charity ReachOut, including as Deputy Chair, helping to shape the strategic direction of the organisation that uses evidence-based mentoring to build the socio-emotional skills and long-term opportunities for young people constrained by circumstance.
